What’s New

New AI Document Tools

Proofreading: Our new AI-powered proofreading tool corrects your documents against customizable rule sets—from house style guidelines to basic grammar checks. Get results as a Word document with tracked changes, making it easy to review and accept edits.

Add Alt Text to EPUBs: In addition to generating short and long image descriptions for visual elements in your book or document, Insight can now also inject that alt text directly into your EPUB file.

Upgraded Vision Mode: For documents with complex layouts—like illustrated books, graphic novels, or multi-column textbooks—Insight’s vision-enabled processing lets AI “see” your pages, so you’ll get more accurate results.

FAQ: Insight 2.0 and AI for Publishers

Expand to read the full FAQ

How can book publishers use AI to automate workflows?

Insight 2.0 helps publishers automate time-consuming tasks across the publishing lifecycle. It streamlines workflows by generating book metadata, writing marketing copy, analyzing backlist content for new keywords, and proofreading manuscripts using AI tools that are specifically built for the publishing industry.

Can AI proofread a manuscript while keeping track of changes?

Yes. Insight 2.0 features a specialized AI proofreading tool that checks documents against your house style and grammar rules. Unlike standard spellcheckers, it exports the results as a Word document with tracked changes, allowing editors to review and accept AI suggestions within their existing editorial workflow.

Is there an AI tool that can read complex layouts like graphic novels?

Insight 2.0 includes a new “Vision Mode” in several document tools to work with complex documents. It uses AI to “see” and analyze pages with non-standard layouts, such as graphic novels, illustrated textbooks, and multi-column PDFs, ensuring accurate metadata, translation, proofreading, and more.

Is Veristage Insight secure for pre-publication manuscripts?

Security is our top priority. Insight provides a secure, private environment for your intellectual property. Crucially, we do not use any customer data or uploaded manuscripts to train AI models. Your content remains yours and is never used to improve public AI tools.

Does Insight support AI analysis in multiple languages?

Yes. Insight 2.0 offers full support many languages, including for right-to-left languages like Arabic and complex character sets like Japanese. The platform can even perform cross-language tasks, such as generating English metadata for a Japanese title.

How does AI help with backlist book discovery?

Insight helps revitalize backlists by analyzing older texts to generate keywords, marketing descriptions, and metadata that meets today’s requirements. With the new “Collections” feature, you can also create dynamic groups of backlist titles (e.g., “All 1990s Mystery”) to manage and update metadata for batches of books. And our AI-powered internal document search lets publishers explore their catalogs by meaning and surface backlist titles by themes, topics, styles, and more.
