This release is all about helping you work with visually complex documents. Insight’s document tools can now see and understand your page layouts, not just read the text.
So what can you do with these updated tools?
- Translate complex layouts: Accurately translate multi-column pages, graphic novels, and text within images.
- Visual proofreading: Scan PDFs for formatting and layout issues as well as spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Translation for complex layouts
Insight’s new “Vision” translation process is designed specifically for layouts that include columns, text boxes, graphic panels, and even text within images.
The visual translation takes a bit longer, but it ensures the translation is thorough, accurate, and in the correct order.
Try it:
- From a book, click Actions > Document tools > Translate.
- Choose “Vision” from the “Text extraction method” menu.
When to use it:
- Use “Vision” for multi-column and complex layouts, graphic novels and comics, pages with text in images.
- Use “Text” (the faster option) for standard, single-column manuscripts
Scan PDFs for formatting issues
Insight’s new visual scan process can identify formatting and layout issues in PDFs, as well as spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. For example, it can spot:
- Awkward line breaks and hyphenation
- Inconsistent margins and spacing
- Page number issues
- Missing headers and footers
- And more
Try it:
- From a book, click Actions > Document tools > Scan
- Choose the “Final PDF check” scan template
- Choose “Vision” from the “Document analysis method” menu
