As you add more books and documents into Insight, you can organize your projects into groups or collections to make them easier to find.
For example, you might want to create projects collections for:
- Season (Fall 2025 or Spring 2026)
- Genre or subject
- Imprint or publishing house division
- Manuscript submissions
- Editor (who is working on which books)
There are two ways to accomplish this in Insight: Projects and Tags.
Projects
When you upload a book to Insight, the platform automatically creates a project folder inside which your book is stored, along with related resources like images and comp titles.
You can also group your existing projects together into new project folders. Then, add a dash tile to your dashboard to easily access your new project folder.
Create New Project Folder:
Method 1: From your dashboard:
- Click on “Add new dash tile” from the dashboard, then select “Create a link to a project.” In the field labeled “Create a new project called:” enter the name of your new project.
- In the next pop-up, choose (or upload) an image for your dash tile and click “Create” at the bottom.
- Your new dash tile will appear at the bottom of your dashboard.
Method 2: From your projects list
- Click on My Projects, then scroll to the bottom of the page
- In the section “Create a new project, enter your project name and click “Create”
- In the next window, scroll to the bottom and click “Save”
Add Content to a Project Folder:
- Go to “My Projects” and click on the project you want to add to your new folder.
- Select the check box at the bottom left of the document tile, and a blue Actions button will appear on the left side of the screen.
- Click the actions button, then select “Add to Project”
- Type in the name of the project folder you want to add this document to, and click “OK”
Add Multiple Projects to a Project Folder from Search:
- Click on Search in the navigation bar and enter your search criteria
- In the results page, click on the “Select all” option at the bottom (or check only the documents you want to add)
- A blue “Actions” button will appear on the left side of the screen
- Click the Actions button, then select “Add to Project”
- Type in the name of the project folder you want to add your projects to, and click “OK”

Tags
Tags are a good way to organize content across your user group. Insight automatically tags uploaded content with the document type (Novel, Narrative nonfiction, etc.). Users can add tags for the group. You can also add a dashtile to your individual dashboard that links to a specific tag.
Add a Tag During Upload:
- When manually uploading a document, select from the existing tags in the upload screen
- Or, click the “+” button to add a new tag
- Tags are shared with all users in your group
Add a Tag in Edit View:
- From any book or document, click the blue “Edit” button or pencil icon to access the edit view
- Towards the top of this page, you’ll see the Tags section
- Here you can add, remove, and create new tags for this document
Create a Dash Tile Link to a Tag:
- From your dashboard, click “Add new dash tile” then “Create a link to a tag”
- Select the tag you want to use
- In the pop-up window, select or upload an image and click “Create”
- The new dash tile will appear on your dashboard
